'Idol's' McCreery needed pep talk after Durbin shocker

Former “American Idol” favorite James Durbin was visibly shaken by his unexpected ouster Thursday night, but he wasn’t the only one who needed a little comforting when the live cameras cut away.

According to E! Online, Randy Jackson rushed to a teary-eyed Durbin’s side, while Haley Reinhart, Lauren Alaina and judge Steven Tyler all gathered around an also teary-eyed Scotty McCreery. It seems the country crooner didn’t believe he should have been the one stay, so the trio delivered a pep talk to convince the finalist he deserved his spot in the competition.

Were you as shocked as Durbin and McCreery? Did America make the right “Idol” choice? Watch the singers’ last performances and share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
