As one of the few frontrunners among the ballroom wannabes on “Dancing With the Stars” this season, Rick Fox has found his motivation to go all out and win the coveted mirror-ball trophy. The former Los Angeles Laker knows that a win for him would mean a first-time “Dancing” three-peat for his partner, Cheryl Burke.
"I'm putting the pressure on myself to get that for her," Fox revealed in an interview with TVGuide.com.
Of course, Burke, whose previous victories were shared with singer-actor Drew Lachey and retired NFL running back Emmitt Smith, isn’t the only two-time champ with a chance this season. There’s also Derek Hough, who happens to be dancing alongside fan favorite Jennifer “Baby” Grey. Mark Ballas is another pro in the running -- at least in theory. With Bristol Palin by his side, a Ballas win seems less than likely.
All of the competition just adds to Fox’s enthusiasm.
“I know Derek and Mark could get three, too,” Fox said. “I have to make sure I'm attentive, coachable and I'm putting in the effort that is required. (Cheryl) shapes our partnership into championship level.”
