William Levy, seen here with pro partner Cheryl Burke, injured his ankle during weekend rehearsals.
It's been a tough season for the ballroom newbies on "Dancing With the Stars." First actress and TV host Maria Menounos suffered two broken ribs and a stress fracture in one foot following strenuous routines with pro partner Derek Hough. Then former "Little House on the Prairie" star Melissa Gilbert endured a mild concussion and whip lash after one wrong move alongside Maksim Chmerkovskiy last week. Now, just five weeks into the competition, another injury has struck a ballroom hopeful, and it could mean trouble for the celeb on Monday night's performance show and beyond.
Cuban-American actor and "Dancing" fan favorite William Levy suffered his setback during rehearsals over the weekend.
"Just Wanted to let u know that I injured my right ankle pretty bad during rehearsal," Levy tweeted Sunday night. "MRI tomorrow. I'll let u all know. Love u all."
So far there's been no follow-up word from Levy about that MRI or whether or not the ankle problem could mean that his "Dancing" days are coming to an early end. Of course, like other stars before him, he may be waiting for show time to share the news.
If Levy's injury forces him out of the competition, he wouldn't be the first star to suffer such a fate. In season seven, beach volleyball champ Misty May-Treanor was forced to call it quits three weeks in after she suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during rehearsals. In season eight, both TV host Nancy O'Dell and singer Jewel bowed out before the ballroom bash started due to pre-season injuries. And in season nine, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay waltzed off the floor in week three due to stress fractures in his feet.
Find out if Levy will take the dance floor when "Dancing With the Stars" airs Monday night at 8 p.m. on ABC.
