DeAnn Welker writes: It was all about buying and selling houses on Wisteria this week, and whether the homeowners association had the votes to keep Paul from opening up his halfway house. Until it was about a whole lot more.
Lynette spent the episode checking and rechecking with all of the neighbors as to whether they were planning to sell to Paul. The only problem was that Mitzi disappeared mysteriously into the night. When Paul lied to Lee that Mitzi had sold, Lee believed him, so he and Bob went ahead and sold too. After the HOA meeting, when everyone found out Paul had sold, Lynette enlisted the heavies from the Hydrangea Circle HOA and all of their friends to help out at a protest of the changes. She thought they'd just hold up signs and help chant, but things turned ugly when they saw Bree's handyman Keith beating up his dad Bo Duke for trying to put the moves on Bree. They mistook him -- anger issues, tattoos, wife-beater, and all -- for an ex-con and beat him up. When Bree got a gun to stop them, and shot it into the air, the entire crowd ran amok. Susan was injured. Bob and Lee became the target, with stowaway Juanita in their car.
Lynette told Paul this was all on him, but he pointed out that it was her friends, not the ex-cons, who caused this mayhem. She ran to Bob and Lee's defense. And that would be all, except that Paul got up in the middle of the night to admire his handiwork: the destruction of the Lane. And, coincidentally, a mysterious someone with a gun got up at the same time and shot him. Here's hoping he's dead, but that Crazy Beth sticks around and runs the halfway house.
All the rest of the storylines came to a head in that final scene, too: Susan told Tom she knows about him and Renee, and suggested he ask Renee to leave the Lane. When he told Renee, she confronted Susan, mid-protest, then witnessed her get taken down in the crowd and put herself in danger to find the injured Susan (with an assist from Tom).
Gaby was trying to heal from losing Grace, and took Lynette's advice to write her a letter. Unfortunately, snoopy Juanita found it and wasn't pleased. She ran away right as the crowds were gathering, ending up in Bob and Lee's car. After some guys smashed the window in with bats, she was happy to see her mom again, and Carlos and Gaby took her into their arms.
Keith proposed to Bree -- AGAIN! -- but she proposed they move in together instead. Bo Duke told Keith that if she really loved him, she wouldn't be putting off marriage (because everyone in the world gets married after dating for a couple months, right?), causing Keith to pressure Bree into a breakup. That's when Bo Duke swooped in and made his move -- but Bree didn't reciprocate, and it seemed to drive her right back to Keith. Actually, that's up in the air, as is just about everything else on the show until it returns in January -- hopefully with less real estate, but just as much drama.
