Why, "Dancing" fans, whyyyyyyyyyyy?!? For the fourth week in a row, our readers gave Bristol Palin the lowest score of the bunch, and for the fourth week straight, viewers voted her through!
Instead, Jolly Green Giant Rick Fox got the boot after a pretty decent foxtrot that landed him in the middle of the leaderboard. (At least Disney star Kyle Massey's safe for another week. That kid -- and his fake abs -- is perhaps the most entertaining contestant of the season.)
It's getting harder and harder to make sense of this. Has Bristol improved from week to week? Mostly yes. (With the major exception of that horrific monkey business she called a jive a few weeks back, which she absolutely deserved to get the boot for.) Has she improved to the point where she performs better than some of the other contestants? No way. In fact, she was the only dancer last night who didn't receive a 10 from the overly generous judges.
Yes, yes, I know. It's not really a dancing contest, it's a popularity contest now. To those who are voting that way, I say, "Quit it! You're ruining the show!" Sure, unexpected eliminations such as Audrina Patridge's last week can go a long way in creating drama and buzz for the show, but enough is enough.
Bristol has been one of the worst dancers since week one. (OK, not as bad as The Hoff or Michael Bolton, but still bad.) And though she's getting better, so is everyone else. We're far enough into the season that we should be seeing the best of the bunch competing. Besides, with two dances to learn each week, sooner or later, Bristol's probably going to forget her steps -- AGAIN -- and end up looking worse than she did standing around in her ape costume. So spare her the pain. Remember, she's not used to the spotlight, as many people like to point out, and probably isn't going to handle it as well as all of the other stars can.
If that doesn't convince you, I'll let her own words do the talking. In the confessional, she told viewers, "I'm tired. I wanna go home. I wanna see my son. I'm just exhausted." So do her a favor and send her home next week.
