When Adam Hurtado joined “The Biggest Loser,” weighing 402 pounds, he made his inspiration known. He hoped to honor his mother, Nancy, who died at the age of 51 due to a heart attack brought on by complications from diabetes and obesity.
For the six weeks Hurtado remained on the ranch, the memory of his mom helped him find focus and drop 80 pounds. He now gives her credit for the 80 additional pounds he’s dropped since then.
“It’s something that’s very near and dear to my family’s heart,” the eliminated contestant explained during a visit to the TODAY show Tuesday morning. “That day we lost our mom and our best friend, but we have an angel now and she’s looking over me. There’s no reason as to why all these wonderful things are happening in my life right now. It’s because of her. So to my mom Nancy, thank you. This is all about her.”
A healthier and happier Hurtado now weighs in at 242 pounds.
