When Rick DeRoque left “The Biggest Loser” ranch after his unexpected elimination in last week’s episode, he had already learned all he needed to continue dropping pounds and making progress back home.
In an interview on the TODAY show Tuesday morning, DeRoque shared the simple solution to his lifelong battle with emotional eating.
“Well I think that an emotional eater is hiding behind the food,” DeRoque explained.” You don’t want to face the different things you don’t want to face. And I’ve just learned, especially on the ranch, that the only way you’re going to lose the weight is to face the problems.”
Since leaving the show, DeRoque not only faced his own problems, dropping a total of 131 pounds along the way, but he’s also helped others tackle their issues. The theme for “The Biggest Loser” this season is “pay it forward,” and in that spirit, the 54-year-old led the way for his family’s improved fitness and formed the United Fitness Foundation to give aid to others in the state of Arkansas.
