At the close of yet another all-too-brief season, “America’s Got Talent” will name the winner of the $1 million talent contest Wednesday night.
If at least one pre-finals performance poll and Piers Morgan's ill-timed buzzer are any indication, the big bucks will likely go to pre-tween opera phenom Jackie Evancho. (Check out Scoop columnist Courtney Hazlett's video report.)
The 10-year-old with the 30-year-old pipes can certainly sing, but she doesn’t exactly bring the fun factor. After all, pizzazz counts for talent, too. In fact, out of this year’s odd assortment -- which includes Michael-Bolton-meets-Michael-McDonald sound-alike Michael Grimm, black light performance troupe Fighting Gravity and divine dandy Prince Poppycock -- only the latter packs a punch when it comes to pure fun. Well, in my way-biased opinion. (Go, Team Poppycock!)
Which act is your pick for the big prize? Have one last look at the Tuesday night's finals and decide:
Jackie Evancho — “Ave Maria”
Prince Poppycock — “Nessun Dorma”
Michael Grimm — “When a Man Loves a Woman”
Fighting Gravity — Doing whatever the heck it is they do
